Since 2020, we have been working in the field of environmental protection. We organize public discussions, children’s workshops, photographic exhibitions, expert workshops on artistic interventions in public space. Through engaged actions, in 2021 we joined the civil society movement in the campaign for the so-called Water Referendum, and in 2022 we have started the artistic-environmental program “Guardians of Rivers.”
Guardians of Rivers
The Guardians of Rivers program raises awareness about the state of our rivers and calls for their protection. The program, which started with the idea of a collective photographic exhibition, has evolved into a national platform for the protection of inland waters. It connects advocates and civil initiatives, NGOs, environmental and legal experts, and media in Slovenia and the Balkans. As part of the program, we host the same-named photographic exhibition, children’s performances “Vow to the Rivers” and “Dragon River,” educational walks along rivers, professional workshops, round tables, informal meetings, and run a promotional campaign. Public intervention IT’S ABOUT THE WATER
A performative intervention during the referendum campaign against the Water Law Amendment. Members of Hupa Brajdič convinced passersby on the streets of Ljubljana to vote in favor of holding a referendum. They performed the song “Water,” which was broadcast live during the final protest rally before the July referendum at Prešeren Square.

Guardians of Nature
Hupa Brajdič, in collaboration with ŠD Tabor, organized creative workshops on ecology led by facilitator Katarina Jenšterle. In the evening, a round table was held with journalist and documentary filmmaker Erik Valenčič, initiator of Balkan River Defence Rok Rozman, and journalist and author Boštjan Videmšek, who presented his new book “Plan B – Pioneers in the Fight Against the Climate Crisis and the Future of Mobility.”

Public intervention FOR NATURE BY THE SAVA RIVER
Members of Hupa Brajdič, together with conservationists, took over organization of the 14th section: Jarski Prodd – Dolsko, as part of the nationwide action “For Nature by the Sava,” initiated by Balkan River Defence. Participants were greeted with poetry, music, and ritual theater, followed by a hike and a protest to close the bridge in Zalog.
